warped1
Okay, 10.4.8 amd machine. If I put the DVD Rom (Pioneer DVR-108) on the same IDE chain as the hard drive (master slave), the drive is slower (expected) and I get diskarb errors booting that delay it. Once its booted everything is fine and I can burn. Hard drive Master and DVD Secondary Master boots killer fast. Diskarbs are gone BUT my DVD no longer works. It's detected but can't recongnize disks. see pic. Any Ideas?
warped1
I added a third drive. Placing a hard drive on the secondary chain with the dvd rom makes it work. This one has got me stumped. I can leave the drive in but was really hoping not to use it.
warped1
Flashing the firmware on the dvd drive to the latest had no effect.
warped1
This has got to be one of the wierdest things I have ever seen in 15 years of hardware. I plug the second drive on the chain but don't power it up and it works. Its the mobo yet windows isn't bothered.
warped1
SOLUTION: Different IDE cable! I tried muliple IDE cables before, all of which worked in Windows and OSX when the second drive was attached but after my last test just didn't make sense. I tried another cable and it works flawless now. I am a very happy camper.
