Mojave fresh on Asus Maximus VIII - mouse/kbd stutter/freeze

Just followed Mald0n's guide exactly and got my box up and running with Mojave on a clean install.

 

(maximus VIII, i5-6600, msi vega 56)

 

But while everything seems to be working I've got one big, and one smaller problem - and don't know where to start figuring them out

 

Big problem:  both the mouse and kbd will freeze for about half a second every 5 seconds or so - doesn't matter about system load etc, they just freeze then after about 0.5 sec start moving again.

 

Smaller problem: while everything seems to be working (video, audio, USB ports, wireless etc) when I open system info it says I've got no PCI cards/devices installed !?!? ...anyone know what's up with that one??

 

 

So if someone could perhaps help, or point me where to start looking, would be great - thanks!
