steve1401
Hi Has anyone been able to install OS X natively using the JaS 10.4.7 image, gone through the entire install process including adding the JaS patches etc, but when it comes to the reboot after the install, just had a black screen? I have, can any one point me in the direction of some help here, I did do a search around but to no avail.... Rammjet
Which "JaS patches, etc" did you install? http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=4499 What are the specs on your machine - processor, motherboard, video card, etc? steve1401
The machine is a Dell Inspiron 9400 Laptop ATI X1400 Graphics (1920x1200 which I know I will never achieve...) Intel Core Duo processor - supports sse3 1GB RAM 80GB SATA 7200rpm HDD The JaS patches I installed were (from memory I'm afraid, but core ones are accurate) Printers - all (left as default) SSE3 ATI X1600 support Thinking about this, possibly checking the ATI X1600 mighyt not have been so good. I will try again without this - I'll get back to you... BTW, if I do get things working, is there any news if ATI X1400 (1920x1200) video cards will ever work???? steve1401
Well I tried with these patches; X11 ESS3 The Intel CPU one... The rest left as default This time slightly more joy... The full install went through, then on the reboot I got to the blue screen with the whirring dial... and thats it! It just stayed like that for ages. So I did a manual reboot (i.e. held the power button down), ejected the DVD and then I got a root command prompt!! If I do a quick "ls" command, all of the directories seem to be in place. Any clue as to how to proceed??? steve1401
Ahh - sorry, I never looked at the screen you linked with the different patches available (was very tired). The exact patches I applied were; Intel 10.4.7 Combo update Intel SSE3 X11 Hope this helps and please see my last post... I am stuck at a command prompt. I am sure there must be a few things I can do from here to get things working as the install seemed to go pretty smoothly (no obvious errrors thrown etc). Thanks again Steve Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/33506-black-screen-at-boot-os-x-native-install/#findComment-237298 Share on other sites
