jasgoalie
Hi All, I have an install of JaS 10.4.8 running on my system but the problem is that the fan is always running on full speed. I've read older threads about power management and cpu throttling, but does all of this still apply for the new kernel as a Core 2 Duo processor? My guess would be that since the hardware in my notebook is quite similar to a Macbook, that the fan speed should work properly, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Does anyone have any insight on this? Thanks for your help. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/33237-1048-core-2-duo-cpu-throttling/ Share on other sites

I had to configure it in the BIOS, set a default % (% of voltage, sets the RPM) and then what temp to start raising the fan RPM. You also set the curve for how fast the fan should spin, based on temp, and at what temp the fan should go full speed. mine is much, much quieter now, found it in the forums here a bit, and then did some googling to help figure out what curve value I should use.
