Gorelander
Hey guys, I'm thinking of getting a XPS15 and hackintoshing it. I'm curious how noisy the XPS fan noise is compared to the MBP? The one thing I like about the MBP is it has a variable speed fan which slowly ramps up whereas on a lot of PC laptops, they're on or off. I couldn't stand when I would be concentrating and the fan would spin up, then off, spin up, then off. So distracting. Does the XPS have a variable speed fan that slowly ramps up or does it just power on then off? Thanks! Gorelander
Thanks for the reply Herve. Would you say the fans on the XPS stay relatively quiet with most use? I know on my MBPs they are rarely noticeable and they slowly increase in RPM as needed, whereas on most PC laptops I've owned, they seem to have 2 or 3 speeds and spin up and down when you do anything mildly CPU intensive. I'm pretty sure all laptops have variable speed fans. Well, all my Dells do. Even the old ones dating back to 10yrs ago.
