Matt Alone
I have successfully installed Mac OS X Tiger on my Dell Inspiron 8600, using deadmoo's VMWare image file. At the begininning I had to start it with the -x switch (I have a ATI Radeon 9600 card), but after deleting everything that has to do with ATI from the hd, the os boots even in regular mode, and also sound is working. The ethernet card was recognized right away, and I was able to get online with no problems. I had to patch the kernel for SSE3, since the CPU does not support it, but now almost everything works fine. The only problems that I'm having (at least that I know of), are: 1) the screen resolution (can't get it to work at 1280x800, even tried the guide in the sticky post) 2) dvd player not working, it crashes once i try to open it 3) i tried to install proteus but it's not even opening 4) darwinports seem to not be working (while trying to install gaim) Since it is the first time for me using Mac OS X (I've been using Linux for the past 5 years, Windows before that), any help with my problems would be appreciated. outsida
I'm in the same boat as you. Did you delete all the ATI files or just removed them? If you just removed them could please zip them so that I can download them?
