I realize that much of the efforts on this site have been to find ways to enable Night Shift, I'm trying to do the opposite. I'm running a nVidia 650Ti on an x79 gigabyte board with a MacPro 6,1 smbios; aside from Night Shift the system runs great.

The reason is that Night Shift (or something related to it) has broken colour management since 10.12.4

Examples of that and discussions about that can be found here,

here on the Apple forums

and a bunch of other places.

I have a $3k Eizo monitor that I can no longer calibrate properly to do photo and video editing. I've currently returned to El Capitan to work around this.

I've tried disabling Night Shift using a backwards version of Pike's method https://pikeralpha.w...017/01/30/4398/ by putting in bogus model versions. It does disable Night Shift, but unfortunately the problem with colour calibration still exists. It's that and the fact that many "content creators" are still complaining about this after 4 software revisions that makes me think they've changed something more fundamental in the video or colour management code and that perhaps this is not a simple fix. Using the NVidia web drivers doesn't help either.

I expect that at some point Apple will address this, but till then I thought I'd put this out there in case someone smarter than me has a way to kick this "feature" to the curb.

Update:

I've been following this on the Apple forums, it seems that 10.13.1 still has the same problem. I personally haven't tried it yet, but that's the report from there.

Too bad we can't find a fix. I think it would be hilarious if the Hackintosh community was able to find a fix for Apple's problems.
