yussefbens
I have a macbook pro that runs El Capitan but the internal speakers aren't working I figure out that I need to disable the optical digital audio output (headphone port), so I'm researching for the file .kext that disable it so that I can replace the original .kext. laurence Reeves
It depends on how damaged the headphone port is, I would just take it to an apple store and get the genius to look at it. I doubt Apple would charge you if it was something simple like getting a stuck bit of metal from a broken off headphone jack out, it might just be that or needs cleaning. If you can't do that, try getting a cotton bud and applying some cleaning vinegar on the tip and going back and forth in the port. (If nothing is stuck in there) 1 Quote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/328696-disable-spdif-optical-digital-audio-output/#findComment-2519339 Share on other sites

laurence Reeves
Can you not just change the audio output? If you hold down the option key (alt) and then click on the sound icon.
