IMEO
Running 10.4.8 OS X on a 2.16GHz ICD Macbook Pro 17" and set up SMC FanControl software to run at 2500rpm instead of the default Mac 900rpm, still cannot hear any difference but the CPU A Temp Diode shows a temp reduction from 59C to 46C... Cooler internals have to be better for increasing the life of the computer but my question is there a downside to running the fans at this speed constantly ... other then reduced battery life. SMC can power the fans up to 6000rpm which I did durring testing and it is quite noisy but then it dropped the internal temps on average 10c within 2 minutes... Any thoughts on this ?
