griftopia
I have a spent a lot of time patching my installation to get it to recognize my wi fi card. I tried to do it the right way - DSDT patch. Does not work I tried patching the IO80211Family child kext for Atheros in SLE. Previously I've been able to patch the child kext this way for Broadcom successfully. However, with Atheros I can't get it to work. At this time I just want my wifi to work whichever way I get. Am attaching all relevant files. If anyone can help. Device Ids of my wifi are 168c,32 ACPI.zip DSDT_wifi.aml.zip E5440_IOReg.zip IO80211Family.kext.zip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/327430-wi-fi-patching-for-dw-1506/ Share on other sites
griftopia
Oh Darn. I had a Costech Bluetooth lying around that worked OOTB, so I was hoping the Wifi would work. So I could just buy a DW 1510. Or if I buy one of those Combo cards with wifi and bt, can I expect it to work in my E5440? Asking because I don't think this supports a separate Bluetooth card, so not sure if that is an issue. Previously I did get a combo card working in a laptop but it did have a separate Bluetooth socket I left unused. This laptop does not even have one. Another question is since this laptop does not have built in Bluetooth, can I get DW 1520 to work? Because I have a couple of lying around. griftopia
That's what I tried with DW 1506 right? No need for 4-letter words. DW 1520 does not need any patching, at least not with Sierra. The IO80211Family.kext Broadcom 4360 child kext already has the device ids for it - 14e4,4353. All I needed to do was switch to MBA5,2 in my config.plist.
