I can get Sierra installed, and it "works" to a degree, but the finder is super slow (takes longer than a minute to drag a file from one folder to another), there is a Kernel_task constantly running at 200% and the system will eventually lock up after a couple hours. I'm not well versed in this world (i paid someone to help me build this system) and am not familiar enough with computer programming to figure out what is going on. I reached out to the same person I paid to help build it, and he asked for the IOREG from both the working Yosemite and the Sierra installs, which I sent him, but I haven't heard anything since. Can someone maybe point me to a post that will explain how to use those files to trouble shoot a system? I've searched long and hard to find a post with a similar problem to mine, but so far, it seems I'm the only one experiencing this. I'm beginning to think the universe doesn't want me moving past Yosemite. There is a thread on here, that I have been following (for a while now) and have posted in several times, in case you're curious what I've tried so far. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/315489-gigabyte-x79-up4-macos-sierra-success/ Any help would be greatly appreciated.
