ceynox
Dear OSX86'ers I was updating my system to 10.4.8 with the new 8.8.1 kernel and because i tested if it would work everything went fine... It only installed with the Semthex kernel (JaS DVD) ... but i want the Mifki kernel (because i get a slightly higher performance, and a bit more mac feel ) I already tested the Mifki kernel (SSE3, NONX) and it worked fine. When I was updating my system, i couldn't find intel-sse3-hpet-nonx.zip quickly. I read about the DeamonES modded mifki kernel, wich should work cause it's got the nonx option, automatically detected, so i replaced my kernel with DeamonES's and it won't boot anymore... just an endless loop... I saved my old semthex kernel as mach_kernel.semthex so i can easily replace it... but... i don't know how to get into a terminal with read/write access from the dvd... I tried to boot the dvd and then utill's-> terminal, but i didn't knew the mount command So i tried single user boot, and then i saw what the command should be: mount -uw / but when i use it it says "disk1s3 is write locked" so i assume i can't write to my hdd. Also, i don't understand how to actually reach my hdd, because when i cd to / i get the contents of my dvd. So, does anybody knows how to get r/w access to my hdd from the dvd??? I know how i can rename the kernels e.d., but what was the repair permissions command again ??? Thnx in advance, CeYNoX Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32680-editting-files-with-install-dvd-terminal/ Share on other sites
Guest bikedude880
Try running the command mount -uw /Volumes/<diskname> I'm just taking a shot in the dark here, as I have never done anything like this off the DVD. Thnx for the reply! Well, i figured it out! I started the installer started terminal, and the typed mount /Volumes/OSX (OSX=name of my disk) then just cd /Volumes/OSX and voila! Now I only need to repair permissions and i'm good to go ! Guest bikedude880
Try diskutil repairpermissions or something like that. If that doesn't work, just type in diskutil to get a list of commands that you can pass.
