donpasscal
I have read the forum and followed the instructions per Jas summarized below... To fix your installation, you need to follow JaS' instructions: - Boot to single user mode (-s) - Move the r2d2.kext - Boot to safe mode (-x) - Run the GMA900.pkg from the JaS 10.4.6/10.4.7 install DVD - Boot your repaired installation After the upgrade, boot up goes to straight to mac blue grey screen then finally settles on the blue screen where it is ===starting Mac osx... screen==== and sits there for hours. I have tried rebooting into safe mode to no avail. I do need some help in getting into safe mode and trying Jas fix. If anybody can help please do so. I am a new to mac. thanks dp

Rammjet
Try this: Boot to single-user mode (-s) fsck -fy mount -uw / cd /System/Library ls Extensions/r2* <-- if this doesn't display r2d2.kext, then you didn't successfully move the r2d2.kext mv Exrensions/r2d2.kext Extensions/ <-- do this only if r2d2.kext needs to be moved diskutil repairPermissions / rm -rf Extensions.mkext Extensions.kextcache Reboot into safe mode (-x) and run GMA950 installer.
