I recently isntalled OSX using Jas 10.4.7 on my HP dv4000. OSX works fine except I can only boot to it using the DVD. If I try setting OSX active (it's already primary AF) I first get an MBR Error 3 followed by an MBR Error 1 followed by a message "Please insert floppy disk now. . ." All this occurs in the black screen right after the BIOS.

To resolve this, I've tried two methods. First, I tried using the OSX startup disk utility to just switch between active partitions whenever I wanted to switch between OS's but it doesn't list Win XP as an option, only network server.

Also, I tried using Acronis but it doesn't recognize OSX. When I run the OS Selector Wizard and choose the Mac OSX partition, it says no operating system was found on that partition.

Any ideas on any of these problems?

By the way, my configuration is:

Intel Pentium M 1.73

3 partitions: c: is windows main (NTFS, Primary)

d: is for my documents and programs (NTFS, Logical)

the third is for OSX (0xAF, Primary)

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Startup Disk doesn't work on a Hackintosh.

In Acronis, right-click on your Windows partition icon and select "copy"

Right click on the new copy icon and select Properties.

Give it a new OSX name and select Partition. Click on the OSX partition and check the Active box.

Save and close. Now you have an OSX icon.

Oh, and OSX should not follow a logical partition. OSX should be on one of the first 3 primary partitions with any logical partitions following it.
