legg1
Ok as the topic states, i am now the happy owner of a fresh/clean installed 10.4.6 computer. Incase someone has the same speccs as me, ill post a short howto on how i did it. Trust me, its so worth reading if u got the same hardware as me, as ive tried 5 diffrent dvd's, reinstalling several times on each trying diffrent setups etc. First off, everything works, with 1 flaw. In "About this mac" I get 4ghz cpu, im sure some fsb settings or so can change that. but it works and things working properly aint worth screwing around with to risk a f***ed up os. OS X 10.4.6 Install DVD with 10.4.6 Combo update, SSE 2/3 Packages and "must have" intel update. Pentium 4 2.4GHz Prescott (1Mb l2 cache) SSE2/3 Compatible. Neo-V Platinum mainboard, with onboard sound and networking. USB2.0 etc. Realtek 8139 10/100mbit ethernet card. Western Digital 200GB Special Edition (8mb cache) Western Digital 80GB Special Edition (8mb cache) Gainward Geforce 6600 256mb AGP 8X graphics card. 17" LCD 1280x1024@75Hz. the basic stuff. This is how i did it: Boot up your freshly burned DVD wich you surely burned at lowest speed (2.4x here) Squeeze F8, press in cpus=1 and press enter. Wait a few mins for the installer to load all essential stuff. Go to Utilities - Disk thingy, and partition what u want. Continue with install, and choose Customize when u get to "Install Type" in the progression frame. Choose SSE2 Packages, combo update, intel update, remove printer/font stuff, and add X11 (not need, but good to have ofc). Finish the install, reboot but keep the dvd inserted, boot from it without any specific flags. Choose language, and go Utilities - Terminal. Type "diskutil list" to get your partition/disk stuff unless you got only 1 disk in the computer. Type "fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0" asuming rdisk0 is your harddrive (find it in diskutil list) Type "f 1" (makes the partition Active, wich is needed to avoid the "b0 error" so it actually boots) Type "write" - "y" - "exit". Close the terminal, go to the installer menu and press Close installer. Reboot and enjoy the user registration etc when it boots again --- I dont know why SSE/3 doesnt work, but im sure as hell gonna try get it working, and if i find a solution i will post a reply with it here. Enjoy your Mac OS X 10.4.6 people, i sure as hell do. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32588-1046-successfull-install/ Share on other sites
