elephantsquid
I've set up my first hackintosh using an EFI config/BIOS config which was set up by some friends of mine. The system will boot in single-user mode, but I'm having 2 problems which may be related: 1) Finder runs very sluggishly- Copy-paste operations which should happen instantaneously take 40s, and mounting/unmounting drives is similarly delayed. 2) A USB control panel which I use (Tangent Devices Element- essentially a set of old-school rolling trackballs, USB 2.0) experiences input "hiccups". I can see the panel producing input perfectly fine, but when the unit's onboard LCD kicks in (supposed to happen on application launch but it's delayed, like finder operations) then the panel can only be used for a few seconds before it hangs for a short time then functions again. No input is lost while the input hangs, but communication between the panel and driver is delayed for a few seconds, then it works in real time for a few more seconds after that, then it hangs again.Could these two problems be related? elephantsquid
Ok, I hit Save As in the ioreg and also uploaded the "Send Me" file I got out of "Run Me". Stand by for Clover. Clover attached. Earlier this week I thought that I had solved the problem by disconnecting my RAID, but it's happened again, even with all peripherals unplugged besides USB2 mouse/keys, DisplayPort monitor, and Nvidia GPU. It's the only real problem I've had with this system. I wasn't sure whether the control panel was attached when I exported those- please refer to these: Send me John’s Mac Pro.zip John’s Mac Pro.zip CLOVER_noserial.zip John Mac Pro - USB Attached.zip Send me John’s Mac Pro-USB Attached.zip 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/324860-usb-control-panel-not-properly-responding/#findComment-2458115 Share on other sites

elephantsquid
I replaced my Clover folder with what you gave me- I can see the Clover startup screen but now there are no boot options. I'm proceeding from a backup drive.Last time I looked at my system log, there was a USB/XCHI error which repeated over and over. Screen grab attached. I've toggled many of the XHCI settings in my BIOS, but nothing is having a discernable effect. System log looks exactly the same. Please take a look at the attached screen grab. Any thoughts? elephantsquid
Ah! Ok. A friend has suggested it's a problem with SSDT. I'll try this today. elephantsquid
Mald0n- It turned out that the problem was mis-matched Thunderbolt 3 firmware on my Gigabyte GA-X99 Designare EX motherboard. The board has 2 controllers, one was on firmware v21 and the other was on 16. This was the source of the XHCI error loop which was tying up my system and preventing any Thunderbolt connectivity. Thank you anyway for your support.
