I’m using a macmini 2011 with El Capitan on a SD card (no HD or SSD installed). It works great. However, I am now trying to boot a linux system from another SD card and it’s not working.

I have used this software to create the alleged bootable drives: https://etcher.io

I have made one USB drive and one sdcard drive in the exact same manner. The USB drive works (is recognized with the option key pressed down), the sd card drive doesn't.

I really need the computer to boot the linux system from the sd card.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
