Screen res, HD probs and no sound after 10.4.8 kernel upgrade

Hi All,

 

Thanks for all the great work. Unfortunately my system seems to have gone backwards with Aberracus' 10.4.8 kernel upgrade method in the genius bar.

 

I've a 915-M5 mb with intel ss3 (no nx) processor, GMA900 video and HDA6 + ALC880, all working with Jas 10.4.6 patched up to 10.4.7 then 10.4.8 using Jas update (not DVD). All was working until I decided to update the kernel as above.

 

Now I have the dreaded 1024x768 fixed screen res problem with no QE, the hard disc has ground to an almost halt and of course no sound!

 

I've read around but can't work out what to do to get anything working properly again. The discussion on screen res advises to reinstall the GMA 950 package, but from where? As for the hard disc I haven't a clue and the previously modified AppleHDA.kext that worked before does nothing!

 

Any useful suggestions would be gratefully received.
