I have a dell Inspiron 8600 and OSX is running great with Maxxuss' 0.5c SSE3 patch, but I can figure out how to get 1280x800 resolution on my screen. I have read the forums here but it seems that everyone has a different method. I want to know what method I could use on my system.

Again, I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 and an ATI Mobility 9600 Pro Turbo 128MB.

Can anyone help me?

type at boot:

it shows you all possible resolutions. I take a look at my 9600 card, I don't have 1280x800 (it's 16/9), I just have 4/3 resolutions like 1280x1024 or 1024x768

I did the "?video" and it says my video card supports many resolutions but OSX doesn't boot in any of them.

It's possible that you made the same error like me at the beginning?

"Graphics Mode"="1280x800x32" with the "

This was one of my first errors, I read about it and was thinking I don't need the "

For other options like -x for example I don't need the ", but for the resolution it's needed

I already know all of that, it doesn't work. OSX won't boot in anything higher than 1024x768x32. When I go to system profiler it says that Kext is loaded for my graphics device. I don't think OSX will do 1280x800 unless it has a display driver first. I want to know I set it up so that OSX is satisfied. I need to know what to do, and what kext to get and edit.

Try to delete the ATI driver:

# cd System/Library/Extensions

# sudo rm -r ATI*

reboot and try again to change the resolution at boot.

P.S: Don't panic this drivers are not functional, you use VESA. In my case (HP nc6000) I had no sound until I delete this drivers

Well, it certainly *can* use higher than 1024x768. I boot OS X using VMWare on my Thinkpad T41. It has 1400x1050 native res. Using "Graphics Mode"="1400x1050x32" gives me a full screen, otherwise it defaults to 1024x768 in a small window.
