fakebanana
I followed the instructions here to update my 10.4.6 JaS installation to 10.4.8. Autodetected my FSB, benchmarks are similar to what they were before (slightly improved CPU & Memory, slightly reduced 3d). I updated my Asus ATI x1600 using the new ATIX1x00_3.5.mpkg sucessfully, but I still can't use standard DVI output (I have to use the VGA port or use a dongle. Yes, I've tried flashing bios, etc.). Next I tried to get audio to work again. The old driver I used didn't work, nor did editing the AppleAzalia Info.plists with my vendor ID, etc. (8384, 7680), but this kext worked. Next, I'm going to go out and purchase a Geforce card to see if I can get DVI to work for me. fakebanana
Update: I hadn't noticed it before, but my x1600 only works reliably when using the built in VGA port and the Club3d bios linked by Jemm. That said, I'm getting results from the EVGA 7600GS I purchased this afternoon. I bought this model because like my x1600, it uses passive cooling and my system is designed to be pretty much completely silent. Using Omni's November 4th Titan.kext, it works fine using straight DVI output without any analog dongle and is posting slightly lower OpenGL numbers in Xbench than the x1600.
