post install questions

computer in question:

Compaq Presario R3240

AMD Mobile 64bit 3200+ 2ghz 1mb L2 cache SSE2

1.25 gb ram

Nvidia GeForce 4 Go 64mb Video

NForce 3 or 4 chipset (not sure, i am pretty sure its 3)

 

I was sucessfull installing Jas 10.4.6 DVD & 10.4.7 DVD & 10.4.8 Combo Upgrade.

 

4.6 & 4.7 installed at different times seperately (all NATIVE, no VMware or dual boot)

 

10.4.6 seems to run the best

10.4.8 seems to boot just a hair faster

 

Sound, Wireless, & Touch Pad all working out of box (no post install/tweak/upgrade)

 

Sucessfull at installing:

 

Aperature 1.1 & 1.5 (1.5 did not work due to hardware requirements)

Mac Office 2k4

Photoshop CS2

Toast Titanium 7

Macvidia 1.0.8 (works but has crashed computer when changing resolution)

 

Here are my problems/questions:

 

Thru a little searching I have found some people complain about the system hanging/crashing after a couple of minutes of non activity, SAME HERE. Is this do to the Nvidia chipset & AMD processor not being 100% compatible? Will the Jas 10.4.6 Patcher help?

 

Also I have noticed a sluggish system performance while installing software and opening/using software, again is this because my computer is not 100% compatible or will some upgrades/drivers/patches/tweaks help?

 

Also noticed that the Mac OS does not reconginize that my computer is indeed a notebook computer, not really a problem but just an observation. Can this be fixed?
