AirmanPika
OK I figured out that the reason the old keyboard utility isn't woking is because the hardware ID has changed for the keyboard on at least the 15" Macbook Pro. Unfortunately the setup file doesn't see it because of this and won't run. Luckily I have a mac keyboard from my iMac so I was able to get past this. Anyway after installing the utiliy go to where it was installed to in program files and then go to the inf directory. Open up keymagic.inf and then edit the macbook entry as follows (bold) ;MackBook (Eng) %USBKeyboard.DevDesc%=Dri_HID_Inst,USB\VID_05AC&PID_0013&MI_00 %USBKeyboard.DevDesc%=Dri_HID_Inst,USB\VID_05AC&PID_0013&MI_02 Now save the file and go the device manager. Look under the Human Interface Devices and look at the details tab of each device. Look at the Hardware IDs for each device and find the two that match the above 2 device IDs from the inf. Update their drivers manually and point them at the edited inf. Then run the kbdmgr app and you should be up and running. I'm able to eject now in windows vista (should be the same for XP) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/31453-macbook-pro-core-2-keyboard-fix/ Share on other sites

bubez
Hi, can someone post here the files contained in the Apple Keyboard Package? I've got the Mac Pro Apple Keyboard, but the installer says it couldn't find any Apple keyboard... I've opened the cab with an installshield utility, with which I can view the files in the exe, but I can't extract them.. Please help... They are: KbdMgr.exe KeyAgent.sys UpdateDriver.exe KeyMagic.cat .inf .sys res404.dll res407.dll res40a.dll res40c.dll res410.dll res411.dll res413.dll res804.dll resc0a.dll BritishA.dll DutchA.dll FrenchA.dll GermanA.dll ItalianA.dll SpanishA.dll Thank you Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/31453-macbook-pro-core-2-keyboard-fix/#findComment-227926 Share on other sites
AirmanPika
If you haven't yet, grab bootcamp 1.1.2. This fixes the issue with the installer not seeing the MacBook Pro keyboard and aleviates the need to use the fix I posted. bubez
I've already downloaded the 1.1.2 package... Still no support for the bt keyboard. However I managed to extract the files from the InstallShield package with ISXUnpacker and i6comp, but when I update keyboard driver the keyboard doesn't work anymore. So I decided to build a program myself which gives support for the keys that I need and that doesn't work. It's written in C# .NET 2.0 and currently provides support for: Load/Eject the disc tray I expect to complete these two other functions within few days: Print Screen Volume up/down/mute In this build to open/close the disc tray use the F13 Key Note: in this state of deveopment the app doesn't know itself the current state (opened or closed) of the disc tray.
