bliss
if you want to build a system on a pentium D base get the Pentium D 945 and the intel D945PSN board. the Pentium D 945 is quiet as fast as the Pentium D 955 (in games 4-5 frames slower) and the D945PSN board is nearly perfect for OSX86 oh and also get an ATI Radeon X1600 pro if you want a full supportet and good graphic-card

Proteo
If I understood well that's your current setup, not the one you're going to buy. But if you will and you plan to use virtualization (Parallels mostly) go for the Pentium D 950 (as bliss said, if you want to stick with PD's). It has VT (945 doesn't) which is supported by Parallels so Windows will be much faster on it.
xp3nd4bl3
A Pentium D on a 975X board should run very well. Not sure about the Quadro though.

moo cow
You all say your Pentium 955 Extreme Edition CPUs are running perfectly. Can OSX see and use all 4 Logical Processors? Does it recognise that there are actually 2 Physical Cores? If yes, what distributions are you using? I tried using my 955 EE system with OSX back in 2006, and my CPU wasn't recognised properly (only one unnamed core could be used). THANK YOU! *if you don't know, please pull up Activity Monitor and see how many graphs for CPU load you have. Thanks again!
