infernouk
Hey guys I have had my mackintosh working perfectly for a month now thanks to you guys help! I was wondering as i see theres a new update for El Capitan on the app store, can i just update as a normal mac would without issue? Or do i need to be wary / take any steps? Additionally is it likely people running El Capitan will be able to upgrade to Sierra without issue? Thanks for the advice! Morpheus NS
You can update from the App Store, just be careful if you have any custom and/or patched kexts in /System/Library/Extensions that could prevent your system from booting if they get updated to newer "normal" versions - make a backup of them. If you use Clover and all of your essential kexts are on EFI partition, you have nothing to worry about. Not sure how Chameleon/Enoch work these days In my case, I have to re-patch the two USB and Bluetooth kexts after every update - they are not critical, system can boot without them, so I do not have to worry if they get updated. It is possible to update from one version of macOS to another, but it is always better to start fresh with a clean install. Cheers, yeah i use clover but i use custom nvidia graphics patching for my GTX 980 so that may cause issues!
