I installed the BcrmPatchRAM2 to/Library/Extensions and BrcmFirmwareRepo.kext to /System/Library/Extensions using #####.

I am currently using this bluetooth dongle: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007MKMJGO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I am using the 17,1 iMac system definition if that helps. Maybe something to do with unsigned kexts?

Whenever Bluetooth Preferences is launched, it keep searching but cannot find any bluetooth devices.

Thank you to whoever can help me fix this issue. I can provide all additional information needed.

Make sure you don't have Android File Transfer installed.

Nope, don't have Android File Transfer. It's a completely new installation of OS X.

Then it is some sort of USB problem...

Also 8087:0a2b is Intel, not Broadcom... I don't understand why you mention it regarding BrcmPatchRAM (which is only for Broadcom hardware).

You should check into other aspects of your configuration. No idea without details on the hardware you have... (please fill out your signature with details).

exactly i also notice that about the device id

ok if your bluetooth is the same one i have , you device id should be similar to this

Vendor ID:   0x0A5C

Product ID:  0x21E8

rehabman is absolutely right , we need more info , like motherboard , what bootloader you are using etc

anyway here are some pictures , look if this is the same bluetooth you have

go here

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/311571-adaptador-bluetoth-compatible-con-el-capitan/page-2

and look at the pictures in post 39 , i know that is in Spanish but all you need to do is look at the photos to make sure is the same one you have

right now i have a pci-e bluetooth+wifi combo card bcm4360cd that's what i'm using right now

but before i bought that pci-e card i had that usb dongle

i still have it but i don't use it anymore on my computer because i have the bcm4360cd pic-e card

but i do use it sometimes when i install macos for a friend or a costumer

you need to go to about this mac - system report - bluetooth

and verify this info

Vendor ID:

Product ID:

my english is not perfect i hope you understand

Yes looks like the same bluetooth as I have, but this is what my info is:

Vendor ID: 0x8087

Product ID: 0x0A2B

Okay, I filled out my signature with my build details. Is there anything else (like a terminal command) or something i can use to test things to diagnose the problem?

ok after checking your board i know what the problem is , haha. my board is gigabyte g1 gaming wifi and my board came with wifi and bluetooth , that's why you are giving an intel bluetooth device id , you have to remove your bluetooth wifi from the board in order for the usb bluetooth to be recognized , as long as you have the bluetooth wifi connected to the board , the usb bluetooth dongle is not going to work , only one bluetooth can be use at the time , i know your board comes with bluetooth but if you have intel wifi bluetooth , the bluetooth or the wifi is not going to work in macos , so is your decision , this the model that came in my board

https://www.amazon.com/Bplus-7260-HMWG-Wireless-AC-Bluetooth-HMCPartner/dp/B00HJCBV64/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1466836026&sr=1-2&keywords=intel+7260+wifi

maybe you have a different model. but depending in your model hands off and continuity might not be compatible with the onboard bluetooth , so you have to remove the on board wifi , then connect the usb dongle , then you'll see that it will show Broadcom and not intel. unfortunately your board only has 1 pic-e 16x for the video card , so you can't buy a pic-e wifi+bt combo card and connect it to the board because there are no extra empty slots. and you need the 16x slot for your video card. the problem will be your wifi if you need it for windows , but if you really want a fully working hackintosh then you can buy a usb wifi card for macos and problem solved

I think you're on to something. That's gotta be it.

I definitely had bluetooth working in the past with this board and El Capitan. Maybe after I updated the motherboard BIOS, it somehow enabled the bluetooth? That would also explain why I am unable to turn OFF the bluetooth inside my Bluetooth preferences pane. The OS must think that the bluetooth/wifi is onboard and undetachable.

I'll try to see how I can remove the onboard bluetooth/wifi. Any idea how?

Thanks for helping.

EDIT: YES! That worked. I removed the motherboard from the standoffs and unscrewed the bluetooth/wifi module attached to the motherboard and now the system detects the USB bluetooth adapter correctly. I believe a lot of people who are trying to get bluetooth working on this motherboard also have this issue. I wonder if there's a way to disable the onboard bluetooth through software without having to painstakingly remove it manually. Again, Thanks to iamtheonlyone4ever for the help!

ok let me try to explain better this time , in my system the onboard bluetooth worked perfectly fine in os but i didn't had continuity or hands off support , that is the reason why i bought the usb dongle card to have continuity and hand off support , the onboard wifi wasn't supported in os because it was intel , that's why i told you that depending in your onboard bt+wifi card type or brand one of those things maybe wasn't supported in os. i only use the usb dongle for just a short time , once my pic-e arrived i put the usb dongle away but i did found the way how to enable hands off and continuity in the usb dongle. ok another thing is that some boards have the option to disable onboard bluetooth in the bios, mine board didn't have that option that's why i removed , but if you already removed your card from the board even if you have the option , once you remove the card that option disappears from the bios , the only way to know or find out is re connecting the card to the board but then you might find out that you do not have the option at all and you will have to remove the card once again , so if you already removed is better just to leave it like that for now , but if you want to try is up to you , also that option is very common in laptops

ok with all that out of the way , you still need to a few things , ok first send me the device id and product id to see if it match mines

if it does then you can enable continuity and hands off support , if it does;t match then you won't be able to turn on continuity and hand of support

go to the first picture and look for this and tell me what you see there

Handoff Supported: Yes

Instant Hot Spot Supported: Yes

it is off or on

also tell me what version of El Capitan are you running , i can only send you the files if you are running 10.11.5 but you need to have SIP disable in order for you to install the files

Doesn't look like Handoff is supported on mine :(

I'm running OS X El Capitan 10.11.5
