Hey guys,

I just installed 10.10.5 via clover onto a system using the below specs:

2 x Xeon x5680

EVGA SR-2

48GB HP RAM

250 GB Samsung 850 SSD

Yosemite is installed but I'm getting all kinds of random freezes and restarts. This is my first hack so I'm not really sure how to proceed. Whether I should reinstall Yosemite or what.

Using verbose mode I grabbed this on one of the random freezes:

Thank you for any help,

Kevin

are you using VoodooTSCSync.kext , that might be one of the reasons , i'm not really sure about xeon cpus but if that cpu uses 6 cores then you need the kext, like a said it might be one of the reason but not the only one , i will start by checking that out , also if you have an ssd you might need to enable trim using terminal

sudo trimforce enable

try that and check if the problem still persist

post your bootloader flags

you are missing one important piece of information

your video card

if you are using an nvidia card

what card are you using

and did you install the web driver

you can't install web driver if you are using an unsupported card

please provide the card info

good luck

Thank you for the reply - I am using VoodooTSCSync.kext set to 23. I haven't tried sudo trimforce enable but I am using a SSD so that could be the issue. No bootloader flags currently and using a AMD video card. I have a strix asus 390x which should work OOB.

did you use a patched kernel by any chance?

And nope no patched kernel.

Thanks again for the help,

Kevin

Under boot args I have the following.

I have dart=0 and kext-dev-mod=1

Thanks,
Kevin

Edit: I have been finding some similar errors that come back to RAM online. I'm going to try a couple boot flags. Is there a way to check my RAM for compatibility? It's honestly bottom of the barrel RAM I picked up in a bundle. I didn't really think of it as an issue since I originally had at least got it to boot.

Thanks,

Kevin

No luck so far - I tried your boot flags and tried updating my config.plist memory section with the following

Not sure where to go next. I ordered some new RAM for a speed upgrade. When it gets here I will swap it and see if that does help.

Thanks,

Kevin

are you using clover in legacy or eufi , if you are in legacy use enoch or chameleon ,it doesn't mean you are going to stayed with it for ever , just long enough to run a test, i will tell you what you need to select for you to try , then if it works with out freezing you can try to troubleshoot clover later , maybe the bootloader is not properly configure , before ordering the new ram , why didn't you run a diagnostic tool to the ram.

I am using clover in legacy. Can I just add the boot loader to my USB? Or do I need to format it and get rid of clover temporarily?

I can't get the system to run long enough for diagnostics :/. Plus the new RAM was on its way. I had planned on buying it before the freezes. I may also have some random ram sticks I could try in the mean time.

Thanks for your reply!

Kevin
