SilverZero Posted October 25, 2006 Share Posted October 25, 2006 Hello again! I love how I get answers 'round here, so hopefully the magic will keep a-comin'. If I do a "clean install" of XP, can I then use a restore point to replace the basic installation with the environment that I set the restore point from? I have a non-booting install right now, and my repair installation is hanging. Since I made a restore point earlier today, I am wondering if I can just save that somewhere and use it after a full installation. I'm thinking my programs are all still there, it's just the registry that would be rewritten with the new installation, so if I can get that and the various preferences and such that go into the restore point, I could be back on track. joe75 Posted October 25, 2006 Share Posted October 25, 2006 It wont work If its a fresh install just redo it. If its not, keep the image, reinstall and grab what you want off the image later. I haven't gotten there yet, I left my comp last night to make space for the image, and I'm copying it right now. Gotta work today, and then I'll just start over tonight with the new install.
