SuffolkPunch
Hello, I'm new to this learned forum, and new to running OS X VMs in VMPlayer on a Windows 7 X86 host! After a couple of days effort, I've finally got an OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion guest running in VMplayer 7.1.3 on a Windows 7 intel PC. Playing with the VM, I soon convinced myself that - while most things worked - it wouldn't be able to play videos due to the lack of VMware support (on intel PCs) for 3D acceleration for OS X VMs. However, today I've found that both Safari 6.0 and Firefox 44.0 do play pictures and sound in HTML5 videos. For examples, see https://www.youtube.com/html5 . So, my question, is why isn't 3D acceleration required to play back HTML5 videos in my OS X VM, when (I believe) it is to play flash videos?
