Hi guys,

long time member here - always been repping some of the more hard to accomplish projects. I achieved a flawless Yosemite build with my old Z68 motherboard, using legacy Award Bios, and tomorrow I'm taking the journey to El Capitan when I get my spare Solid State.

If anyone else has this board still, or the Z68 in general, and wants to come along for the ride, be sure to stick your head in this thread and I'll do my best to answer any questions.

I've done the initial prep and managed to boot into a USB and run a test El Capitan install (Faulty spare hard disk though so couldn't boot into the OS after).

The only thing I had to change since my El Capitan build thus far, was disabling CPU EIST in the bios. It's  not so straightfoward to find, but its in advanced CPU settings a few pages in.

Cheers

Ok guys I am up and running. USB 3 to follow (tomorrow, thats enough for tonight .

So in a nutshell - Using exisiting Yosemite build.

Build a bootable USB using the latest version of Clover.

My step by step instructions for getting it bootable for Yosemite can be found here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/301713-clover-z68x-ud5-b3-missing-bluetooth-controller-transport/?do=findComment&comment=2072425

In the BIOS (Award Legacy), i had to disable CPU EIST. Its on the first option, but you have to advance a few screens till you hit the CPU options and it will be in there somewhere. This was not something i've had to do prior, but for some reason it was throwing P state errors if I didn't. I haven't tried re-enabling these since getting the install up, but figure i probably don't need them anyway.. feel free to chime in anyone)

That's the only thing I have changed thus far. You will need to create your own DSDT and SSDT using the maciASL instructions i posted in that other thread. My audio and networking worked out of the box by dragging my old DSDT, SSDT, config, and also HFSPLUS.efi (You need to replace Vbox in Drivers64UEFI with HFSPLUS).

Other than that, happy so answer any questions you might have.

Cheers
