claudius139 Posted October 21, 2006 Share Posted October 21, 2006 The installation was perfect, i picked SS3 + X1600 Patch in the installation, no AMD, etc. When i start, i see the Darwin Boot option, i tried -v or -x...same effect. It boots, i can see all the text and os x loading and then just before showing the login screen (or switching to graphic mode i guess)... Black! nor cursor, no nothing...just black. i searched in the forum but cannot find anything. Please HELP! My system: Compaq Presario 5000 (purchased in 2001) Pentium 4 w/ SSE2 ATI Radeon graphics 10.4.1 installed with all patches When I try and boot off of the CD, it won't proceed past the logon screen, it seems... I think that got me past the black screen. I tried reinstalling again but without checking X1600 support (even if i have a X1600 Pro card) With that when it boot i have the Apple boot, then the 'You need to Restart your machine' screen. But in Safe mode it's working?? So from safe mode i installed the latest 10.4.8 SS3 package, and installed the latest Borisbadenov ATi Driver 3.3... Result: Normal mode --> Apple graphic boot then 'You need to Restart your machine' Message in 3 languages Safe mode --> Apple graphic boot then Black Screen! What the hell is wrong!!??? p.s. I tried the r2d2 kext fix that hiroo proposed but the file is not there!
