AriX
Hey everyone, I just installed OSX 10.4.6 using the VMWare method (VMWare installs directly onto the disk) and it worked GREAT. I am very surprised at how easy all you guys made it for everyone, you just install it, select SSE2 for my system, reboot and it works! It's great! (This was my first Hackintosh installation) So, I'm checking out OSX, installing QuickSilver and thinking about how I could transfer GarageBand from my MacBook to my Hackintosh, and I decided to go to about this Mac. What I saw there scared me. My 2.2GHZ Pentium 4 with 533MHZ Front Side Bus was a 3.2GHZ Pentium 4 with 1.9GHZ Front Side Bus. Now I don't know how this happened, and I don't if it was really believing that that was the processor and really overclocking it, but now I'm scared of booting into Mac OS X again because it thinks that it can do that to the processor, and I don't want it to overheat. So, what should I do? Specs: Dimension 2400 (About 3 years old, still works pretty well though, I upgraded the processor from Celeron to P4 when I bought it, and bought 512MB RAM about a year ago. It's not my main computer though, I have a MacBook now.) 2.2GHZ Pentium 4 w/ 533MHZ FSB, MMX, SSE, SSE2 128MB+512MB RAM Acronis OS Selector Trial CD Burner + CD Drive Windows XP Home SP2 USB Mouse for Mac OS X + Windows, PS2 Mouse for OS Selector (Only one it supports...) adriandkicks
Dont worry about it m8...OS X seems to read the CPU Speed/FSB wrong. No need to worry the system isnt really running that fast. Adamantinus
The install DVD tells me my 3200+ (Clock speed is 2.0Ghz stock, but I've got a 10% overclock) is running at 3.7Ghz. I would understand if it said 3.2Ghz because thats what it is in Intel terms at stock, but an oc of 10% doesn't clock by 500Mhz Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/30844-whoaa-extreme-overclocking/#findComment-213808 Share on other sites
