novernae
I have 10.4.8 working fine on my Dell Inspiron 9400, but I'd like to have sound--I have a SigmaTel chip, and we all know it won't work. Is there a PCMCIA card, or maybe a USB sound card that I can use to get sound? Thanks... BuXb
Hi novernae, here's what I have been gathering from the forum over the months from different threads. I also gathered some links which might lead you further. I just got my PCMCIA slot working so I will be looking into this in a little bit, too. I want to go for the PCMCIA solution because I need my USB ports for other purposes. In the information I gathered people didn't always specify if they are talking about USB or PCMCIA. So go ahead and do some testing Get a C-Media USB dongle sound card, it works great on every hackint0shon ebay for £6 inc postage - M-Audio Fasttrack Pro USB (drivers on M-audio site - professional USB Audio) - Edirol USB Audio Interface UM-1 - Fully working without patching with Manufacturer Drivers - TASCAM USB-428 SOUNDCARD and MIDI Controller works with original TASCAM Drivers - The Tascam US-122 works for me, but only when installing the Soundblaster USB driver from the 10.4.6 JaS release. - soundblaster mp3+ usb, work fine for me - http://cgi.ebay.com/SLIM-PORTABLE-USB-5-1-...1QQcmdZViewItem - Im using the one from Turtle Beach (sound out only), its workes flawlessly, you can get them at Best Buy or Compusa for $30 bucks. - http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...c=16171&hl= - 9/10 because of the price. It works 100% in Windows but occasionally it skips in OS X, but not so often that it's a pain. Not sure why. I would recommend one of these if you want sound for next to nothing Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/30749-is-there-a-pcmcia-sound-card-solution-for-laptops/#findComment-213174 Share on other sites
