oki I managed to find out how to get back the extended cpu info like this:

Of course its just cosmetic, and in the ppc apple, they have the abbreviated ones like in 10.4.8.

It doesn't solve the CPU Type in the About box, still Unknown, but maybe someone else will crack that:

Copy from dvd /system/library/SystemProfiler/SPPlateformReporter.spreporter to /system/library/SystemProfiler/

 

ie

sudo cp -R -f /Volumes/CD/system/library/SystemProfiler/SPPlateformReporter.spreporter /system/library/SystemProfiler/
