This is with Clover Configurator!!!

Yes, I see!!!  You sound so excited!!!

I was asking becasue I wanted to know if it was better to match my chipset or if I should match my CPU.  The 14,2 has a Z87 chipset and the 15,1 has a Z97 chipset.

15,1 results in a black screen right before hitting the logon screen.  I'm using Fully Updated 10.10.3, Clover 3215*, NVIDIA web drivers and a GTX 970 connected via HDMI.

OS doesn't panic or anything (I can logon and use the keyboard shortcut to shut down) its just that it is not outputting any display.  So as of this point 14,2 is a better choice... unless someone has a suggestion on how to fix the display.

*Clover settings:

  • NewWay_80000000
  • FIX_RTC_20000
  • DropTables DMAR
  • darkwake 10
  • XMPDetection 1
  • AFGLowPowerState False
  • (Audio) Inject 1
  • InjectSystemID True

That does not work with the NVIDIA Web Driver.

I am now using MacMini 7,1 (Late 2014, Haswell) as it fixes the Boot Progress Bar showing in the bottom left corner:

What would be a better match for a Z87 chipset and a 4790K, the iMac 14,2 or 15,1?

imac14 and imac15 support 8 series chipsets; no imac15 advantage over imac14.

imac15/4790K cpu support is in Apple firmware, not available on non native hardware (use ssdtPRGen.sh)

Simple answer: use imac14, no AppleGraphicsControl.kext edits required.
