Creative Recon3D help

HI everyone,

 

I'm either looking to get my Recon3d fatal1ty PCI-E card to work (it currently shows up in devices with voodoohda but no sound when selected) or buying a new sound card with spdif 5.1 output. I tried googling it and found nobody who got the Recon3d to work. I thought it would be possible since Creative has another creative Recon3d card who has Mac support and i believe they are based on the same chipset.

can anyone recommend a good usb sound card with spdif output? Something not too expensive but with good quality too.

your 2nd OS X link does not work

 

any old usb sandblaster x-fi will work(with optical), but the buttons and dials don't function.

I'm pretty sure any of these devices are 100% the same quality using optical because the DAC is in your receiver.

 

Unless you start taking about jitter, which then maybe an asyncronous USB device would be better to an audiophile.

i use this, but it does not have optical out but I do love the way it sounds. I have an older one of the turtle beach things for optical out when I need it to go to the larger 5.1 stereo. I have a Creative Zx that does not work under OS X. I run the optical out from that into the optical input on my d1+ for windows.

I also have used one of these with OS X and it has toslink coax (and not optical), but its really great device to consider.
