boot problem after a fresh install

after several install attempts and searching in the forum, i cannot find an explanation to this:

after installing and applying the right patches, when the system reboots for the first time, i see the grey apple logo spinning then suddenly a message appears and asks to reboot the system. i don,t understand what happened? tried it several times and it is the same problem. i am using the JaS MAC OS 10.4.6 DVD install on my laptop:

ASUS A6Ja

Core duo T2400 1,8ghz

2gb Ram

100Gb Of hard drive ( i am using the whole drive, no dual boot)

ATI X1600 256 Ram

 

I've already installed the system on a friend's laptop and it works fine, we havr similar laptops and we don't understand what it doesn't install on mine.

please help me
