jtapiaibm
I have a .dmg image that I have downloaded for leopard and when I try to burn it from my mac it states 5.05 GB that will not fit onto my 4.7 dvd disk I have to use a double layer. Now I have tryed burnig the image onto a double layer using toast it was successful and when I take the dvd out and put it back in it comes up. Now I try to reboot my system and hold the c key down the I get and apple symbol and a question mark and then it doesn't do anything, and when I try to change the start options when it reboots I get a purple screen and a circle with the shape like and anetnna. So really I don't know if it is because it is a double layer that my dvd player can't read it, I also like to know how can I get this image onto a single layer I have better luck. Now my windows system sees the image as 4.3gb but the mac see's it at 5.05gb I don't understand. Please can some help me with this I am really getting frustrated. how can I see the image through my windows system and burn it to a cd I have tried magiciso to convert but it looks like it is doing something but really t's not any help will be apprieciated. DsurioN
You cannot use toast to burn the image. Drag the image into disk utility (in disk list on the left), highlight your image (don't need to mount it), and click convert... Convert it to a DVD/CD master (no encryption). After the image is converted, you can highlight the NEW image (.cdr) in disk utility and click the "burn" icon. Good luck! jtapiaibm
ok I have done that and it states that it is 5.05GB not 4.3? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/30467-issues-with-burning-and-installation/#findComment-211142 Share on other sites
DsurioN
You've burn it to a dual layer? If so, you should be able to boot from the cd now... What do you mean by "i've done that" yes, the size should increase as it is extracted onto the cd. The disk image is compressed. noahplm
i found it easier to use a soft partition tool to make a 6 gig partion, then resore the dmg to it, select the volume as the start up disk and go from there, this way involves no dl dvds you can always delete the partion you made later and resize into the gap Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/30467-issues-with-burning-and-installation/#findComment-212021 Share on other sites
