I have recently done a clear install, after many fails, and this one has worked with no new kexts, only using one boot flag (npci=0x3000). Everything boots fine, from chameleon, which leads to a black screen with the cursor and a progress bar that almost always "loads" all the way (it gets past the point that -v is useful to see the error). The cursor is free to move around, but the black screen just stays there. Sometimes the spinning wheel pops up the goes away- sometimes it freezes then goes back to the cursor. The weird part about this is that sometimes it loads the log in screen and sometimes it doesn't; it's like playing to lottery.
