toucansam
Ok so i've gotten everything to work except my printer. I've tried for weeks trying to get this thing to work to no avail. I am trying to hook up a HP Deskjet 3550 USB. Now I'm fairly new to macs and how they work but I've been doing some research before I finally decided to cave in and post my problems. Initially, I tried using the HP Deskjet 900 drivers that everyone else seems to be using and reporting it works. Well when I goto print, it starts up the job then loads data up to 34% everytime, regardless of how big the document is and just hangs there. I left it on for about 30 min. to see if it was just slow in printing but still stuck at 34%. So I hopped online and found that the deskjet 3550 doesn't use PCL language like most deskjet printers (according to some linux print site), it uses some laser language that can be emulated using the laserjet III drivers supposedly. So i tried out the laserjet, when i goto print it starts the job, then goes completed without and data load, nothing prints. I also noticed gimp driver beta next to the driver model name and did a bit of research on that. According to their site the deskjet 3550 is not supported. So my next step was to just try every model on the list one by one. Some load to a percentage and hang, other just do nothing. My last attempt was to follow the wikidoc and use rosetta enabled printer utility to select the latest HP drivers off their site. So i went to do that, when i try to select the driver and hit OK it kicks me back without selecting anything. My printer is correctly identified as HP Deskjet 3500 series by the printer utility but I cannot find or install a driver that will get it to work even partially. Anyone out there have a similar printer or can shed some light on the subject. I'm dual booting with winxp so I can always go print there, but kind of annoying having to reboot just to print something everytime. Any information would be appreciated. hawkeye11
Try the DeskJet 985 drivers. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/3038-printer-woes/#findComment-19432 Share on other sites
toucansam
Try the DeskJet 985 drivers. No 985 drivers, I tried 995 C and 895C but both those result in nothing. It shows in my print box that the jobs are successfully completed but printer does nothing what so ever. Don't think it's a USB issue, because it detects the printer and identifies it, my ipod and mouse work through other usb ports with no problems as well. still stumped.... UgoPina
I've got a problem with my printer drivers: I tried to install my printer drivers (canon MP600) but when i rebooted, my leo 10.5.1 freezes on these lines: Property 'name' [2]='/' Property 'compatible' [5]='ACPI' Property 'model' [5]='ACPI' ======== ===Node=== Property 'name' [7]='chosen' ======== ===Node=== Property 'name' [11]='memory-map' Property 'DriversPackage-6940000' [8]=(data) I deleted files from /System/Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources , I deleted installed packages through DesInstaller but nothing changed..there's some way to fix this?I uninstalled everything...is it possible that the problem is now something else???thx p.s. the system works only if booted with -x without audio and video effects (obviously) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/3038-printer-woes/#findComment-1324643 Share on other sites
