Since Yosemite is my first OS being used with a hackintosh I can't say if the problem I'm seeing is unique to Yosemite.

What I'm experiencing are occasional issues with logging users out; sometimes the logout process gets stuck with only the user's wallpaper visible (no menu, no mouse etc.), other times it sticks on the black screen (which is usually when some process is taking time to stop). Even stranger is that one several occasions when logging out, the login window seems as if it's crashed and relaunched, with logged in users suddenly appearing as though they aren't logged in; in this case signing in to one I know is logged in will reveal that operations are still running (albeit inaccessible), such as the Finder showing a file being copied but with the option to cancel it missing, a Handbrake queue will continue encoding but can't be stopped because opening Handbrake won't reveal its progress etc.

Has anyone else been experiencing these issues? Are they specific to Yosemite in any way?

It's not really a big deal as my user accounts are used to separate out various functions, and most will be left signed in permanently once I'm ready to leave my machine running 24/7, but it's very annoying to log out of an account only to be forced to power down to get anywhere.

Thing is I can't find any obvious causes; it doesn't seem like something that should be hardware specific, but my user accounts don't have anything running that can't shut-down. In fact the only thing running in most user accounts is a launchd job, and those are forced to close if they take more than 20 seconds to stop, plus the jobs aren't doing anything intensive.
