sLAPmEfIVE
Hi, im kindof a noob but I installed the hotiso 10.4.4 on a seperate harddrive than my XP harddrive. Now I just want to boot without the XP drive (meaning no windows bootloader or chain0, etc) when i try to boot off the mac HD, it gives me and error. How can I boot mac without the use of any windows drives? Thanks ahead of time
Apple Freak
Do yu mean you want to boot up Mac while still having the Windows HD on your computer? If so, open the case and switch the jumpers, if the two HDs are on the same IDE line, switch the Mac Drive to Master, and Windows to Slave. If they're not on the same line, switch them to the same, notice that other drives have to be one Slave and one Master, or it has to be both Cable Select (I don't prefer to use Cable Select), but that's only other drives not HDs. How to switch it? So dis connect the HDs or drives and you should see about 6 pins and one stand alone by itself, look at the stickers on the HDs or Drives, iti should say what pins does what, after you figure it out, pull out the jumpuer and do as the picture tells you to, every HD an ddrives have different combination of jumpers. If you only want Mac HD, then simply unplug the Windows HD and set the Mac HD's jumper to Master, an that's it If I'm confusing you(I know it is), sorry... But hope this helps ; )
Rammjet
when i try to boot off the mac HD, it gives me and error. How can I boot mac without the use of any windows drives? What is the error? It is important to be sure that OSX can boot up successfully and then worry about what method you will use to initiate the boot. To boot OSX without Windows, first make the OSX partition active. Use a Windows/Linux disk/partition utility or use Fdisk built into OSX: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=22844 Then boot into OSX and set the timeout parameter in boot.plist to reveal the Darwin bootloader: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=188186
