I installed what is supposed to be mac 10.4.6 x86 on a p4 box. It was downloaded via torrent, and burned to dvd (at low speed to avoid errors and was checked for errors with nero). All was fine untill the first boot, where I got the B0 error. this was fixed by running a dos command, and activating the install partition with fdisk. The system re-stared and the error was gone. Now, when it's about to boot it shows a bunch of text that scrolls down the screen very fast. I'm assuming this to be some sort of first-time-load thing as its says "loading this", "mounting that". However, after about a minute of this, the screen goes black, and the computer re-starts.

the instalation method was simply: burn, boot, format, install, fix the error.

The computer im installing on only has one harddrive, and it only has mac on the disk.

The pci slots are all un-used, i just have the video card in there.

I'm using a p4, 1.4 with 512MB ram, 40GB maxtor HDD, and I have a floppy and dvd drive.

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question that is clearly awnsered somwehere, but I looked all over the place for 3 hours.

If you need more stats let me know, I,ll go grab a flashlight.

I'm guessing its some file I have to replace or modify.

-edit I did remember to install the sse, and other stuff for the various precessors. i installed everything on the disk.

i installed everything on the disk.

That's your problem

During the installation, when you get to the window where you are to click the Install button, you must first click the Customize button and choose packages for your computer. Click the little arrow next to the patches category to reveal the individual packages. Select Intel or AMD packages, not both. Select SSE2 or SSE3, not both, depending upon the capability of your processor. Select the Combo Update to get the latest version of OSX. Select other packages only if you know your computer can use them.

And I have posted this message so many times on this board, that it is next to impossible to search for 3 hours and not find it at least once.
