monkeyhelper
Hi, I've got a 10.4.6 Jas install (upgraded to 10.4.7 via Jas and semjaza). I've been doing some performance testing with XBench and I'm happy with my scores overall but my Disc I/O seems a little slow : Disk Test 26.82 Sequential 37.53 Uncached Write 37.92 23.28 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 28.08 15.89 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 60.91 17.83 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 35.49 17.84 MB/sec [256K blocks] Random 20.86 Uncached Write 7.69 0.81 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 40.70 13.03 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 51.34 0.36 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 56.60 10.50 MB/sec [256K blocks] Looking at the ATA kexts : computer:~ root# kextstat | grep -i ata 31 3 0x28f60000 0xd000 0xc000 com.apple.iokit.IOATAFamily (1.6.0f2) <11> 32 0 0x28f74000 0x7000 0x6000 com.apple.driver.AppleIntelPIIXATA (1.7) <31 16 11> 45 0 0x297cd000 0x4000 0x3000 com.apple.iokit.IOATAPIProtocolTransport (1.4.3) <44 31 11> 46 0 0x2989f000 0xa000 0x9000 com.apple.iokit.IOATABlockStorage (1.4.3) <37 31 11> My controller is : IDE Controller Intel® 82801FB/FBM Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 266F Does this seem average performance or can anybody spot an issue with my configuration ? jan_187
They seem not that slow... Mine were at 3MB/s or so when I didnt install the VIA chipset stuff. Now that I do have them installed, it get like 50/60, about same as you.
