spanakorizo
i have 10.4.1 deadmoo image everything was clear and easy there ,cause it is like using an emulator the image was ready and installed just need to boot and fix some things now i d/l the 10.4.6 and .7 (not sure which ill put..the one will finish faster guess so) when it will finish i want to test it in native mode and not through vmware ,BUT ... i want 1st to install it through VMWARE to fix everything and then restart from XP,change the disks ,put the installed OSX (from VMWARE) master and boot through it (not xp any more) I WANT TO DO THIS ,cause i need to fix EVERYTHING(display,sound.. ..) through VMWARE and when it will be ready to run it in native mode so ill have better speed/free ram .. . (IS IT TRUE OR ITS THE SAME AS VMWARE SPEED?) i dont care about dual booting right now..i will do this later so,the method will be ... : (?) mount the image to daemon ,start a virtual machine ,CHOOSE MY EMPTY (NOT VIRTUAL) HARD DISK i want to be installed and that's all? (THAT DISK WILL NOT PRIMARY MASTER IN MY XP,WILL BE JUST AN EMPTY IDE HARD DISK..IS IT A PROBLEM?) what should i do in 1st place to this EMPTY disk i plan to install the osx through VMWARE? i understand that i must format it and make a partition NTFS ( partition magic ,is it ok?) and then it will be installed ,i will reboot ,choose this DISK for boot through my bios and will boot to OSX naturally? what must i take care for nothing goes wrong? I DONT WANT TO DO ANY MISTAKE AND DESTROY THE DATA AT DISK C: WHEN I WILL BE AT XP P.S. i've learned a little the -s boot methods in darwin ,so if i need to write something there you can;t tell me..i think i will understand it sudo -s Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29799-question-about-installation-to-vmware/ Share on other sites
Rammjet
I would format the empty hard drive using FAT32 before you start. If your computer has SATA, you will be able to access the drive through VMWare. VMWare is a simulated computer running in Windows. It uses Windows drivers to access devices. But you may not be able to boot the hard drive because OSX might not have a driver for the SATA controller. To install through VMWare to your hard drive, here is a guide: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=11314 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29799-question-about-installation-to-vmware/#findComment-205716 Share on other sites
spanakorizo
OK i will install it in IDE drive and not SATA ,thats not a problem i must have somewhere 10gb old IDE drive . i saw the guide and read it all i need the 1st steps : connect the IDE drive to secondary master/slave,or primary slave i go to partition magic and i reformat it/create a FAT32 partition ,so its empty and ready. i mount the image (OSX) to daemon open vmware, setup a virtual machine ,point the CDROM (DAEMON IMAGE) choose my disk* i will choose the FAT32 empty disk ,as i saw to the guide and from VMWARE i choose to boot from the disk i will install it ok in FAT32 disk , i will restart the pc and from BIOS choose to boot from the FAT32 OSX IDE disk and it will boot? must i change the jumpers and put it PRIMARY MASTER or it can boot as it is ..just to choose it? one more question if i want to boot again from xp ,from my real disk and i open the VMWARE again ,load the virtualmachine i saved before ,it will boot again from VMWARE ,correct? (to fix maybe somethings, save them in the OSX and reboot native) is that so simple? i dont care about dual booting as i said, and i would like also to avoid change disks in the mobo etc etc. [ b]ONE LAST QUESTION...[/b] write now i have the 6gb image on a partition of a 300GB SATA DISK the partition drive is Z: i know that i cant choose from bios the partition i want to boot but only the drive. is there any way to boot nature from this partition that has the OSX? i think not ,cause its just an image...and the HD is virtual(not physical)through VMWARE. if i choose a new machine through VMWARE and CHOOSE A PHYSICAL DRIVE (my partition Z:/) it will install it there and i will be able to boot native? i want to check it like this now before i go to the 10.4.6 update.. EDIT: i found my partition look: continue and boot from the beggining but with this disk? im afraid not to erase all the disk (the other 280GB) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29799-question-about-installation-to-vmware/#findComment-205771 Share on other sites
spanakorizo
i tested some things i realized that the deadmoo image can only run through VMWARE 1st of all i cannot burn it or change it to ISO (is img) 2nd its 6gb and if i try to boot from it(mounted it daemon tools) through vmware it says "no system found" the image i have was ready to run through vmware (with the configuration files) im confused...i will w8 for the 10.4.6 that will be "normal" image and not like this Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/29799-question-about-installation-to-vmware/#findComment-205800 Share on other sites
