matt77303 Posted April 13, 2014 Share Posted April 13, 2014 Hi guys Seem to having a lot of trouble hearing notification sounds on mavericks. If i goto system preferences, sound, and doublr click on the sound effects for example bottle. It sounds fine, loud enough. But when i get a message via imessage for i send to trash i can bearly hear the sound. Am i missing another volume slider somewhere? This can happen if you use a system other than MacPro. iMac etc sleep the audio hardware when idle which leads to sounds getting cut-off when it wakes. With short sounds like system notifications you end up losing maybe half of the sound which is why it sounds so low. Yeah using HDMI out, i had some other crazy sound issues so in the end i gave up and just connected a pair of speakers via 3.5.
