macattackjack
My system MSI x79MA-GD4 bios 7735v2.6 i7 4930 16gb ram (for now) 10.9.2 I installed from usb flash as per the vanilla guide in this forum, using essential kexts Essential DP1 V2.zip fakesmc and nullpowermanagement are the only modded kexts mach_kernal is vanilla. This one http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/163-109-ivy-bridge-e-atom-lapic-fix-kernel/ doesn't work, nor the one provided in the essential dp1 v2.zip folder. Install was okay using -f -x -v cpus=1 graphicsenabler=no and npci=0x2000. usekernalcache=no Problem: I can not boot with -f -x -v cpus=1 I spent about 8 hours today trying various kexts and boot flags, no luck. I just got 10.8.4 running on this system, and if I remember correctly, it was a modded appleintelpowermanagement that solved the problem. I've look around and using that kext or others haven't solved the problem. in verbose, when I try to boot using only -v, I get smckey errors, and smc defaults back to old mode (I forget the exact term. -f -v cpus=1 sometimes works. Is there anyone that has had experience using the 4930k on an x79 board. The big problem with the 10.8.4 install with the updated UEFI bios that was needed for the cpu. I'm running 10.8.4 with a 3820 cpu on another system with the X79A-gd45 that uses an earlier bios version. I'm not using any DSDT files, and would rather not. my i7 3820 install of 10.8.4 can run on the X58M, and asus p5k-vm. Experience: First hack build was with 10.5 on a P4p800 s-x Any help would be appreciated. I did a search and found various HWsensor kexts, modded mach_kernals, etc, but would like to avoid my current "farmer stabbing a pig in the dark hoping to get lucky" course of action. Thanks! iFIRE
try VoodooTsync.kext, and the kernel for this cpus is working vanilla kernel 10.92 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/297343-msi-x79ma-gd45-i7-4930k-and-1092/#findComment-2011109 Share on other sites
macattackjack
It sort of helps... but the system loads slowly, and am getting unsyncronized TC errors. I've tried the original from the forge website, (modified per their instructions for i7, a tonymac mod for 4930k and the working one for 10.8.4. Also I'm using a modded AppleACPIPlatform.kext. The installer would not boot without it. And another thing If I try loading without -x flag (not in safe) I get multiple smcreadkeyaction errors and a unknown cpu model 0x3e. I'm using the latest fakesmc 10.6 currently, without nullcpupowermanagement, I get a kernal panic with modded appleintelcpupowermanagement.kext of with unmodded one.
