Lotustar Posted March 28, 2014 Share Posted March 28, 2014 I know this card is old but I have a Radeon HD 2400 XT 256 PCI-e (94c1) and cannot get past 1024x768 resolution no matter what I try. I have tried various kexts, EFI strings, Adding ID to the Ati kexts, and boot flags. Anyone have an idea how to make this work with Snow Leopard? I've seen posts where it works under Leopard. Specs: Asus p5n-e sli (nforce chipset and no AHCI option in bios....a massive thorn in my side with Lion post install, grrrr) core 2 duo 2.4 3G RAM Radeon HD 2400 XT 256 PCI-e (94c1) Snow Leopard 10.6.8 Had been trying to get a Nvidia 8400gs PCI working but no joy there. Turns out that card was dying and finally did under Windows 7. So, I figured I would give this old card I had lying around a shot. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks! Lotustar Posted March 28, 2014 Author Share Posted March 28, 2014 I know right? That 8400gs should have been OOB and i've used that card in another machine with no problems. But I think it was just on it's way out. Gave me problems in Windows as well. To the matter at hand. Those kexts and Graphics enabler boot flag did not work for Ati. Still stuck at 1024x768 and sys profiler shows "GPU" with 3mb. Has Id though. I just don't get it. What could be the problem here? i do have a bunch of ATI related kexts in S/L/E like ATI2000controller and ATIx2000 or whatever. Should I remove those? and my com.apple.Boot.plist does not reside in my extra folder (org.chameleon.Boot.plist not anywhere on my system) if that makes a difference. Let me clarify that I am using iAtkos S3. But only choose nforce sata and 32 bit that I later replace with a 64 bit ApplenforceATA and remove 32 boot flag. So my sys is booting 64 but I tried booting in 32 incase the kexts you uploaded were only 32, if that even matters. So yea, Snow Leopard is useless to me without full resolution and QE/CI. Help! If i can get around the post install still wating for root device thing. Theres no option on iAtkos L2 for nforce sata. Had to install it to usb installer just to get lion to install. Full HD and all that. Gonna try with vanilla kexts and see. Will try 32 again just for grins as well. Fingers crossed. Oh one last thing. I'm not too familar with the vanilla kexts. At this point it's worth a shot though. here is what is in my S/L/E: ATI2400Controller ATIFramebuffer ATIRadeonx2000 ATIRadeonx2000GLDriver ATIRadeonx2000VADriver ATISupport I removed ALL other ATI kexts with dif model numbers. Hope that was ok. Seemed right to me. Tried GraphicsEnabler=No and arch=i386. No joy. Gonna try that tut real quick and then I'm over it I think. Just gonna have to save up and get a MAC. Ugh. Yea that tutorial was no go as well. In all my years of hackintoshing I have NEVER been stumped like this. Drives me crazy to quit!! Maybe I ca try and find an EFI string that works. The one from EFI studio sure doesnt. Doh, just saw the other to tut links. Trying those as well. Then I'm just gonna put Kali Linux on my other drive and be done with it.
