noisegate
Hi all,I recently set up a hackintosh (Asus X79 Deluxe + 4930K), running OSX 10.9.1.64GB RAM, 2 840 EVO SSDs and 1 old HDD inside, everything looks fine.If I create a RAM Disk and copy/paste a large file to it, I get slightly better transfer rates from HDD to RAM Disk than from SSD to RAM Disk. The SSDs are recognized as 6GB/s in Sys Report, and I get the usual figures when I c/p a file from SSD to SSD.But it seems I can't have them "speak" properly with the RAM. Any clue?Thx for your help
iFIRE
you have activated TRIM to your SSD ? search for TrimEnabler app
noisegate
Yep, forgot to mention trim is activated. What kind of figures do you guys get when reading from SSD to RAM ? I'm about 140MB/s, although I get around 400-450MB/s from SSD to SSD.
noisegate
Update1: actually AJA gives me proper figures with the Disk Read/Write test on the SSDs. But with the Disk Read Existing File test I get around 100MB/s, which reflects my overall poor experience. I should mention that both tests are consistent on the HDD and the RAM Disk. I'm a bit confused... Update2: I just noticed if I copy/paste a file on one of the SSDs, read rates on said file get back to normal. So files that I copied to the volumes only a few months ago read at poor speeds, while freshly copied ones read ok. The only thing that comes to mind is a firmware update on the SSDs. I'm thinking it might have deteriorated access/read performances to the files present on the volume?
