Alright, I totally messed up and deleted iChat, now I can't get it back becuase the standard installation says you need 10.3 to install it!

Does anyone think they could help me out and give me their copy of iChat? AIM 4.7 for MacOS runs very wierd and choppy for me. :)

I'd be most gracious.

Thanks in advance!

Try this:

Boot into OSX. Insert your OSX install DVD and let it mount on the Desktop. Open the DVD and go to this folder: /System/Installation/Packages

Find the iChat.pkg file and double-click on it.

Go to your Utilities folder and run Disk Utility. Repair permissions on your OSX partition.

Thank you so much. This place truely is a lifesaver! :) I had a graphical problem last time I had it on my computer. I'll give more details when I get it back running.

Alright, I just did as you said and i have it back on my dock now, but when I click on it the dock icon just "jumps" and nothing happens. ughhh

I agree ... the amount of help I've recieved from this forum and web site is beyond words. There is no way I could've gotten anywhere near close to getting OSX installed on my machine correctly if it wasn't for this Forum.

Search needs to be improved a bit though.

Update: The reason aim was running slow was becuase I had no soundcard oddly enough. AIM is now running normally and iChat still won't work but it's doable in this way. I'm surprised MAC OSX AIM 4.7 actually direct connects with windows counterparts!
