fork96
I recently received a Dell Dimension 4600i from my grandmother after she got a new computer. I upgraded it a bit (doubled the RAM, replaced CD drive with DVD-RW, larger hard drive, fresh install of Windows XP) before wondering if it was compatible with OS X. Well, (i)Boot doesn't work with it, nor does its legacy counterpart. It appears to load but then just brings up a white screen. The same thing happens with nawcom's ModCD and iAtkos S3, although S3 jumps to a kernel panic after a few seconds (my only guess why is because it automatically selects to boot the installer if there's no keyboard activity, and the keyboard doesn't seem to work on the boot menu). So after trying all of those, I thought to try iDeneb v1.4 (Leopard 10.5.6). It boots fine, and displays the Apple logo, but then the installer is grayscale and horrible-looking (I've attached some images). What happened? Are the computer's integrated graphics not supported? Will it be like this after I install it? I was going to put in an nVidia Galaxy GPU, but then I saw that there were no PCIe slots. Is there anything I can do to fix this? dcai777
your graphics card is not supported in OS X and will never be... Try putting in a PCI (not PCIe) nVidia 8400GS or nVidia GT 210 that is PCI...
